SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – 50 Cent is making more moves in Shreveport after announcing his lease with the city for Millennium Studios back in April.

Real estate broker, Beth King, confirmed to KSLA Tuesday, June 11 the sale of two buildings in downtown Shreveport to Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. She says the rapper has purchased 218 and 205 Texas St. The two buildings are across the street from each other near the old Dripp Donuts building.

“When a developer or an investor comes in, it encourages other investment into the market. So, I think he’s going to be another catalyst to help the viability and strengthening of downtown,” King said.

She said she thinks this will bring forth more good in downtown.

“With residential continuing to be strong, that only adds to the mix, and I think what the buyer of these two properties, all the things that he’s working on are going to all do well for Shreveport,” King said.

Richard John is married to the daughter of Joseph Cush. The Cush family has owned the two historic buildings in downtown Shreveport for decades.

“The buildings used to be leased out; they haven’t been leased in a while. And the family you know, wanted to make sure that they were going to someone, or hopefully going to someone, that’s going to do something with them to maybe use that as a catalysis to bring some life into our downtown,” John said.

He said the building were sold at market price.

“I think this is a positive step because like I said, I mean they bought the buildings. They weren’t donated to them. They’re not lease. It’s actually an investment that they’re making in our city,” John said.
