At the end of the day, athletes are professional employees and when it comes to playing football, everything is straight-up business. Gone are the days when players tended to stick with one team that drafted and developed them for the majority part of their careers.
Now, players understand that teams would not hesitate to trade them and are similarly focused on ensuring they get the most value for their talents.
Josh Jacobs, the running back for the Las Vegas Raiders, made a big splash when he signed with the Green Bay Packers for four years and a sum of $48 million. This came after frustrating negotiations with his former team and considering they were not willing to offer him enough to keep him around, he chose to move on and take his talents elsewhere.
Recently, a fan on X lashed out at Josh Jacobs for leaving the Raiders without a proper thank you or goodbye to the fans.
You could have left with a bit more professionalism or class, we loved having you, you're a dawg, just not sure why you took the deal you did to play elsewhere and not even post a message thanking anyone. Just doesn't make sense you were a fan favorite and now you're tripping.an X user named Daniel Pucci tweeted for Josh Jacobs
Seems like a fair request on part of a fan, right? After all, despite the Raiders’ rough season record, the fans did show up and cheer for Josh Jacobs.
Josh Jacobs justified his actions by calling it a purely-business decision
Jacobs was one player whom they could always look to be consistent and perform on the field. From a fan’s perspective, there were a lot of emotions invested in him as a member of the Raiders franchise.

However, Josh Jacobs had a rather crude yet truthful response to the fan. He flipped him off using the middle-finger emoji.
(middle finger emoticon) a fake a** goodbye. It ain't no hate to the Raiders they made a business decision and so did I, it's simple, move on.Josh Jacobs wrote on X
He kept it straight to the point. The flipping off was probably unnecessary in this instance, but ultimately, his decision to move to the Packers was purely a business decision. It was not because he no longer wanted to stay in Vegas or because he had some issue with the coaching and ownership. He wanted to get paid, but the Raiders were unable to offer him the number he was looking for, and he just decided to take his talents to a place where he would be well compensated for it.
Sometimes fans get so involved in the game and have emotions vested in a particular player that they tend to overlook the fact that it is nothing more than a business to them at the end of the day. All Jacobs did was keep it real with the fan, even though he conveyed the same with some harshness.
