Caleb Williams’ height can be a major concern as he headed towards the NFL, as the AFC executive believe.
Apart from their draft scenarios, both have been observed to be smaller than the average NFL quarterback. However, they for sure can’t be called brothers.
As AFC executives believe, the USC star quarterback is “built different” than Young. While talking to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the AFC executive shared his thoughts on how Williams’ height can be a major concern as he heads towards the NFL, even more than his tendency to play hero ball.
The only thing you really don’t like, just strictly on the player, is the height. He is reckless. He does some crazy s**t. But at the same time, he creates a lot of big plays. I think you’re just gonna have to live with a little bit of that.Said the AFC executive
A lot of arm talent. He’s shorter. He’s built different than Bryce was, he’s got more thickness to himself. Real confident and instinctive, and you can feel that on tape.Continuing further, AFC executive added
Young, who was measured at 5-foot-10 and 204 pounds at the 2023 Scounting, struggled with his height and it hurt during the rookie campaign. However, Williams measured at 6-foot-1 and 213 pounds may not suffer at this intensity.
The average quarterback’s height in the NFL was 6-foot-3 last season, but many successful quarterbacks measure below the average, such as Jalen Hurts, Brock Purdy, and Tua Tagovailoa.
Bears’ strategic moves for the 2024 draft
As the 2024 draft is a couple of days away, the Bears are set to sign Williams and build a contenders roster. They already have D.J. Moore, Cole Kmet, and recently signed Keenan Allen. The franchise also has the No. 9 overall pick, which they can use to add another offensive player.

The Bears have made sure their rookie quarterback has enough offensive weapons to rely on. But it also adds immense pressure on Williams to come through in his rookie season.
If the quarterback fails to do so, fans may turn away from the franchise. Given that they didn’t want the Bears to trade away Justin Fields as he led a fine season at 7-10 last season, Williams will have to at least lead above a 10-win season to win over the fans.
