You cannot speak about rap without mentioning the rap god, Eminem. With a career spanning over two decades, the rapper, born Marshall Bruce Mathers, has created a recognizable sound that he has remained true to, likely earning him the global recognition he has. But it’s not just his rap style. Eminem is a lyrical genius with a way of crafting and stitching his bars that is utterly remarkable.
The singer is one of the fastest in the world, with his style earning him a world record holder title. He can be fast, but his lyrics always remain coherent enough for his fans to internalize and relate to. However, fans may only have a sliver of information about the famous producer and rapper’s personal life. Despite a tough demeanor, Eminem is a softie when it comes to his children, and he seems to work hard at maintaining a close bond with them.
We kept hearing how bad husband Eminem is but decades ago, in the interview with 20/20, his ex-wife Kim talked about how great father he is:
“He’s an excellent father. He loves his kids very much. When there is anything up like field trip or anything that has to do with school or any activity that Hailie’s involved, he is always right there. When she’s upset or she needs to talk or anything, he’s always lending a helping hand. He always wants to be there. He’s always trying to be involved in her life. How she’s feeling. How was her day. He’s just always for her.”

In An Interview, Eminem Was Asked About One Daughter
Via: TheThings
Eminem loves his daughter; that is undeniable. The “Without Me” rapper has three known children, Hailie Jade Mathers, Alaina Marie, and Stevie Laine.
Hailie, born in 1995, is the rapper’s first and only biological daughter with his ex-wife Kimberly Scott. Eminem later adopted Kim’s sister, Dawn Scott’s daughter Alaina, and Stevie (formerly known as Whitney), Kim’s daughter from a previous relationship. Even after his break up with Kim, Eminem still tries to maintain a good relationship with his daughters.
Hailie and his father have shared a close bond since she was young, and she has played a huge role in Eminem’s career. Eminem and Hailie have been in the studio together, letting fans hear a snippet of his daughter’s voice since 1999 when he recorded “97 Bonnie & Clyde.”
While talking to Mike Tyson, Eminem expressed his admiration and love for his daughter Hailie. “Hailie is 23,” Eminem told Mike at the time. “She’s…she’s doing great. She’s made me proud, for sure. She graduated from college, 3.9,” he answered when asked about his biological daughter.
However, he went on to talk about his other two children even though he wasn’t asked about them, something that speaks a lot about how he feels about all of them. But this shouldn’t be a surprise, as Eminem has always been big on family and fatherhood. Alaine even credits Eminem for making his wedding possible.
“Even before Hailie was born, I was a firm believer in freedom of speech … But once I hit them gates where I live, that’s when I’m Dad. Takin’ the kids to school, pickin’ ’em up, teachin’ ’em rules. I’m not sayin’ I’m the perfect father, but the most important thing is to be there for my kids and raise them the right way,” Eminem reflected on fatherhood in an interview dated 2004.
His Daughters Helped Him in His Sobriety Journey
Eminem is always sure to credit his children for helping him stay away from drugs, something he has admitted to being difficult to do. Mathers had been dealing with addiction to prescription drugs and methadone since he was a teenager and did not see any need to get treated until his overdose ordeal a few years ago.
Eminem talked about his recovery journey and how difficult staying in rehab and concentrating on recovery was. He explains, “I felt like Bugs Bunny in rehab. When Bugs Bunny walks into rehab, people are going to turn and look. People at rehab were stealing my hats and pens and notebooks and asking for autographs. I couldn’t concentrate on my problem.”
Although he was working with a professional addiction counselor, it was his love for his three daughters that kept him going.
“My kids help me stay sober, and also I see a rehab counselor once a week,” he explained. “I love my kids so much, and they’ve helped me through so many things.”
Eminem’s Fame Hasn’t Stopped Him From Being a Good Father
via InstarOver the years, Eminem has made great accomplishments, but he says being a father is the greatest of them all. “So when I think about my accomplishments, that’s probably the thing I’m the most proud of is being able to raise kids,” Eminem told Mike Tyson.
The artist has opened up several times about parenthood and how he feels about his three kids. Despite his busy schedule and frequent tours, Eminem has always been there for Hailie and has never missed important events such as birthdays or holidays.
Eminem has since learned his lesson about exposing his children to the media; Eminem’s relationship with Stevie became complicated.
Hailie seems to share the same sentiment, labeling her Childhood as ‘Surreal’. This is enough to conclude that Eminem has indeed been a good father to his children, despite his fame and a broken marriage.
While his other two children are in the public eye far less, it’s safe to assume Eminem’s doing his best to be a present dad.
