On Sunday, the NFC East champions, Dallas Cowboys, led by their star quarterback Dak Prescott, went against the Green Bay Packers in their wildcard game. Prescott had a terrible 2-int performance, which eventually resulted in the Cowboys losing the decisive game. Following the loss, ESPN’s Shannon Sharpe blasted the veteran quarterback on social media.

The former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe posted harsh criticism of Dak Prescott on X and labeled Dallas’ brutal loss as ‘pathetic’ and ‘humiliating’. Sharpe also bashed the Cowboys’ defense since they gave up 40-plus points to an offense led by Jordan Love, who played his first playoff game on Sunday.

Empty calorie Dak. Every1 saw when the gm matter. He pulled a Cooperfield and DISAPPEARED. The defense didn’t disappear. They never showed up 2 start with. This is the most pathetic, disappointing, humiliating loss in Cowboys history. EMBARRASSING

Shannon Sharpe wrote on X

Prescott and the Cowboys threw 2 interceptions in the first half, leading to them facing a huge deficit early in the game and forcing them to throw the ball a lot more than they would’ve hoped. As a result, Prescott had a whopping 60 pass attempts and completed 68.3% of those.

He also threw for more than 400 yards and 3 touchdowns, but his 2 interceptions proved to be very costly and the Cowboys suffered a humiliating loss against the Green Bay-based football team. Shannon Sharpe and many experts have been constantly criticizing the Cowboys’ signal-caller and Prescott failed to prove them wrong when it mattered the most.

With that loss, the NFC East champions have been officially eliminated from the postseason and are now forced to have an early off-season. Their general manager Jerry Jones would now look to put up a better team next season and compete for the championship again.

Dak Prescott backs HC Mike McCarthy amid firing rumors

Following the embarrassing loss against the Packers, many experts and fans expect the Cowboys to move on from their head coach Mike McCarthy. Amidst the speculations, QB Dak Prescott backed his head coach during the post-game press conference.

He's been amazing. I don't know how there can be [questions about his status], but I understand the business. In that case then there should be about me, as well, honestly.

Dak Prescott told the reporters

Despite Prescott’s backing, it would be a surprise if Jerry Jones decides to stick with Mike McCarthy for the next NFL season, especially since there are many good coaches available in the free agency market.

As for Prescott, the Cowboys might not have any other option than sticking with the veteran, at least to be used as a bridge QB, potentially for Trey Lance.
