Dak Prescott has a postseason record of 2-4 with the Dallas Cowboys.

Ex-Cowboys star Barry Church breaks silence on how Dak Prescott was the reason behind Tony Romo’s retirement in 2017

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Dak Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. He wasn’t supposed to be the team’s starting quarterback in his first season in the league. A vertebral compression fracture for Tony Romo in week 3 meant that Prescott was named the Cowboys’ starting quarterback. He has been the starter ever since.

Prescott had a fantastic rookie season and that affected Romo, who retired after the 2016 season, handing the offense to Prescott. Former Cowboys’ star Barry Church recently opened up about the situation and claimed that the team’s tight end, Jason Witten told Romo that the Cowboys needed to play Prescott going forward.

Church said in the latest episode of ‘Fanatics View:’

It was like any time Romo went down, we knew it was up, that's the game, it's over with. Around Christmas time, and Romo was like on his way, and we waited, and Witten of all caps, they were best friends in and out the locker room, still to this day, but when Witten said, 'No, this is Dak's go, this is Dak's squad, we gotta ride with this man,' and that was that.

Prescott led his team to the Divisional Round in his first season in the league. The Cowboys finished the season 13-3 and clinched the NFC East title. In his first playoff game, Prescott had a great outing, but the Cowboys lost to the Packers, 34-31.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have a golden chance of winning the Super Bowl this season

The Dallas Cowboys haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1995. They have gotten close to the ultimate prize multiple times but have failed to win another Super Bowl. They have another opportunity to win the title this season and their HC Mike McCarthy knows it. He has left a blank spot in the Cowboys’ hallway for the 2023 championship photos.

Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott spoke about it in a recent interview and gave McCarthy the credit for coming up with the theme. Prescott said:

Credit Mike for making that the theme of this season, and it’s been something that we’ve pointed to at different parts of the year — and right now it’s bigger than ever.

The Cowboys will play the Green Bay Packers in their Wild Card game on Sunday. It will be a home game for the Cowboys and that will be a huge advantage for them. It will be a fantastic game and the Cowboys will hope to go all the way this year.
