Prescott explained he offered the $200 to make the competition a little spiced up.

“I might still owe him $200,” Cowboys QB Dak Prescott reveals wagering during workout with Brandon Aubrey is costing him money

From being a software engineer to an NFL breakout, rookie Brandon Aubrey‘s journey has been pretty interesting. But what’s more interesting is the young Dallas Cowboys kicker had quite an exciting interaction with quarterback Dak Prescott, who then, recently signed a long-term contract with the Cowboys.

After recording 30 out of 30 goals in the Cowboys’ 15th consecutive home game victory against the Philadelphia Eagles in week 14, Aubrey established his name among the top promising kickers in the league.

And his teammate Prescott is truly proud of him. In a recent press conference, the MVP favorite was asked about his first interaction with the young Aubrey during one of his workouts. To which, Prescott revealed he had actually wagered at Aubrey’s workout under Egan, which ended up costing him $200, saying:

Every now and then I pop up and this particular time, I feel like they were at..some park and him…my buddy Brian told me where they were. I wasn't doing anything so I drove by and yeah, I remember I put dinner on the line or something like that..yeah 200 bucks.. a couple of hundred bucks and I said, you know…it was him [Brandon Aubrey] and another kicker and I said, I want full operation, I want it like mayday.

Prescott explained he offered the $200 to make the competition a little spiced up to see them perform their best and add a bit of pressure because it was a training session:

What happened at Brandon Aubrey and Dak Prescott’s first meet?

It happened long before rookie Aubrey joined the team, it was during his training under kicking coach Brian Egan at various local parks and fields. By that time, Aubrey had been training under Egan for two years and was on the verge of landing a spot in the spring league team.

During one such session at Warren Sports Complex off 121 and Eldorado Parkway, Egan had invited an old college roommate to check out some kickers. And there enters Prescott and interestingly, he indulges into a friendly competition with one of the kickers who claimed making 10 out of 10 field goals.

It was quite a disbelief for the quarterback that he said, if the kicker made even 8 out of the 10 goals, he would be impressed. Unfortunately for that kicker, he couldn’t succeed with that, and then the competition came to Aubrey, who made 9 out of the 10 field goals, and amazed Prescott.

He then offered the young Aubrey $200, which he certainly did not remember but the latter confirmed. In fact, Prescott would probably be okay if his rookie teammate Aubrey went to him and asked for that $200 that he won.
