Singer Mya has denied having a long-term affair with Jay Z after rumours spread online this week.

The Lady Marmalade hitmaker spoke out on Instagram after a fan posed the question, following reports online the pair had a secret relationship for 11 years.

A fan asked the star: “Heard you and Jay Z had an 11-year-affair. Are you his side chick or nah?”

Mya responded: “Never did, never was, never will.”

She added: “Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that’s the ‘media’ for you-especially today.

“I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense.

“False rumors are crafted for ratings & numbers. And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they’ll do it to anyone. God bless.”

It follows reports online the star had a long-term affair with the rapper – sparked after a blind item was reportedly posted saying Jay had been seeing a “very short named R&B singer who hasn’t had a hit in a while.”

She’s not the first beauty to deny having an affair with the rapper.
