The superstar quarterback is only 28 years old, and wants to focus on winning more Super Bowls.

Patrick Mahomes has a savage response for people criticizing him over ‘dad bod’ physique

As long as Patrick Mahomes keeps winning football games and the Super Bowl, he does not care what people want to say about him. Especially when it comes to talking about his now famous ‘dad bod’ physique. In an interview with Time magazine, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback clarified his stand.

During that interview with Sean Gregory, Mahomes talked about his off-field activities, most notably his eating habits. Mahomes did not stop himself from revealing about his love for Chick-fil-A and his obsession with Starbursts candy. That is where Gregory asked him about the hue and cry fans made about his physique.

I definitely have the dad bod a little bit. I’ll also say I have a great body for a quarterback. You’ve got to have some padding in there to take the hits that we take.”

This response seemingly puts to bed the notion that he cares less about what people think about his body. As long as it helps in taking the hits en route to a few more Super Bowl titles, he will keep maintaining this structure.

After all, a quarterback is without a doubt the most important position in the NFL. With the importance also comes a series of hits from defensive linemen as well as roaming second-level defensive players. They want to stop him from doing the most important part of the game, throwing the ball to a receiver.

To take those hits, Patrick Mahomes prefers to have some ‘padding’, as he puts it. He is insistent that to play through those hits, one has to take them. Only then can he continue to deliver the ball accurately to his receivers, who work hard to get open.

Patrick Mahomes and his dad bod focused on a few more Super Bowls

The quarterback has had one of the best starts to a football career anyone could dream of. Three Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVPs in seven seasons and getting to play alongside running mate Travis Kelce under head coach Andy Reid is the stuff of dreams. However, he knows that the trials will only get tougher in the future.

I’ve had at least one of the top three starts to a career--I’ll put it that way.

Patrick Mahomes admitted

Teams will try to slow down the postseason machine the Kansas City Chiefs have become over the years under Reid. But it does not take away the focus of winning a few more titles until he wants to hang up his cleats.

After all, nothing can ensure he enters the GOAT conversation more than Super Bowl titles and consistently putting up All-Pro numbers. With that in mind, he wants to keep his dad bod, so that he can endure several more years of punishing hits coming his way, to get to those rings.
