At the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Sean McDermott claimed Bills’ securing the Super Bowl trophy isn’t a matter of if but when.
Lately, there have been a lot of questions about whether Sean McDermott is the right coach to lead the Buffalo Bills to the Super Bowl or who can bring out the full potential of quarterback Josh Allen. After all, Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady’s legacies include the work put upon by their head coaches Andy Reid and Bill Belichick, respectively.
The chatters doubting McDermott’s credibility came even louder when the Bills suffered a brutal playoff exit last season– just like how it has been suffering for the past few seasons. However, when asked about his perceived notion among the fans and within the league, the Bills’ head coach dropped his jaw in disbelief during a recent interview with The Athletic.
I’m confident in who I am as Josh’s coach. I know how to develop players. I'm confident in that and extremely confident Josh is going to develop the best he can, that we're going to maximize Josh's potential.Sean McDermott said
Based on the words of the 49-year-old, it reflects there’s no way he is not the coach to maximize the true potential of the star quarterback Allen, making him the NFL’s best quarterback.
Well, if there is one thing that McDermott doesn’t lack is confidence, as in many instances it appears with an ‘over’ in the prefix. Just the other week, at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, the head coaches claimed Bills’ securing the Super Bowl trophy isn’t a matter of if but when.
Bills bringing back Mitch Trubisky as the backup to Josh Allen
After losing to the Kansas City Chiefs third time in four seasons in the playoffs, the Bills ought to emerge as the leader this coming season. They have already begun rebuilding their roster and brought back a familiar face, Mitch Trubisky, in a two-year contract deal.

The last time Trubisky played as a backup quarterback to Allen was back in 2021, which eventually landed him the starting role with the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of the 2022 season.
In fact, the Bills were on his wish list before officially signing up. On the other hand, Kyle Allen, who backed Allen in the 2023 regular season, is about to hit the free agency starting next week.
Apart from adding Trubisky, the Bills also released several veterans, including defensive backs Jordan Poyer and Tre’Davious White. They have a lot of work to do in the off-season to replace them.
