Jayden Daniels won the 2023 Heisman Trophy Award on Saturday beating three staunch favorites.

Skip Bayless claims Michael Penix Jr. deserved the 2023 Heisman Trophy over LSU QB Jayden Daniels

Veteran analyst Skip Bayless said that Michael Penix Jr. deserved the Heisman award more than Jayden Daniels. After the regular season of college football was over, the authorities had four names favorite for the Heisman Trophy.

The list of these four names included Jayden Daniels from LSU, Michael Penix Jr. from Washington Huskies, Marvin Harrison Jr. from the Ohio State Buckeyes (OSU), and Bo Nix from Oregon Ducks. All of them were staunch contenders for the coveted college football crown, however, it was Daniels who grabbed the ultimate prize.

Addressing the issue on his social media, the veteran analyst congratulated the present Heisman Trophy winner. But he did not refrain himself from posting his dissatisfaction over the choice. The analyst wrote,

Congrats to Jayen Daniels for winning the Heisman. But a I said on Undisputed, Michael Penix Jr. has won his last 20 games and led UW to the playoffs. I thought that gave him a slight edge. But Jayden definitely will be the better NFL QB.

However, the fans did not take his argument lightly. Some netizens criticized him for backing Penix over Daniels in the Heisman Trophy race.

Among the four favorites, there of them were quarterbacks. Harrison Jr. was the only wide receiver who made it to the Heisman Trophy race after his marvelous season with the Buckeyes. A lot of them thought that he would be winning the trophy for his contribution to the team. Even C.J. Stroud, the former Ohio man who is creating ripples in this year’s NFL, claimed that Harrison Jr. needed to be the winner.

Jayden Daniels thanked his coaches and his teammates after winning the Heisman Trophy Award

The Louisiana State University quarterback thanked his coach and his teammates after winning the Heisman Trophy. He also felt it was like a dream coming true for him.

I want to dedicate this award to every boy or girl who has a dream. With faith and hard work, you never know what’s possible. They said I was too skinny, so I added weight. They said I relied on my legs a little bit too much, so you know what? I went to work. I completed all those passes and had the season I had…they said I was too quiet, so I became more vocal and stepped out of my comfort zone, and now I’m here today.

The 22-year-old quarterback joined the LSU from Arizona State University in the year 2022. This was his second season in the college league, and he created history. Completed 3,812 yards of passing with 40 touchdowns against four interceptions. In addition to this, the quarterback added 1,134 yards of rushing with another ten rushing touchdowns.
