Taylor Swift is not stopping from reaching unfathomable heights of stardom. The singer has been actively shattering records and giving Swifties many memorable nights with the mega-blockbuster ‘Eras Tour’. The tour has become a global phenomenon, with Swift becoming a billionaire and the tour on the verge of becoming the highest-grossing tour of all time.

Taylor Swift started the ‘Eras Tour’ in March 2023. In August, after completing the US and Mexican legs of the tour, Taylor began the Latin American leg of the tour in November 2023. It started on a romantic note in Argentina. However, the tour took an unfortunate turn in Rio de Janeiro after a Swiftie, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, died before the concert after suffering from a heart attack. After a week, Taylor invited her family to her São Paulo backstage and clicked pictures with them.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ had a rough start in Brazil as one of the Swifties, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, lost her life before Swift’s performance at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

The Brazilian newspaper, Folha de S Paulo, reported the news. When the 23-year-old fan was taken to a hospital, she died due to a cardiac arrest.

 

Due to the incident, Taylor Swift postponed the concert to November 20, 2023. Now, during the final leg of the ‘Eras Tour’ in Latin America, Taylor serenaded the Swifties in São Paulo.

During the concert, Ana’s family was spotted in the VIP arena of Allianz Parque Stadium. The family was enjoying the concert, and they adorned t-shirts with her picture on them. It is not confirmed whether Taylor invited them to the concert, but after the concert, she clicked a picture with the family.

An Investigation Is Launched After Ana’s Death

Taylor Swift was shattered and heartbroken after the death of Ana Clara Benevides Machado. She released a statement on Instagram to pay tribute to the young Swiftie, who was studying psychology. In the statement, the ‘1989’ singer said that though she didn’t know Ana, she thought that the young Swiftie was “incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

Now, the Brazilian authorities are reportedly launching an investigation into the matter. During the concert day, the temperatures were as high as 102 F. The stadium prohibited water from being taken inside, and there was no facility for water at the stadium.

As per NBC News, the Consumer Delegations Department of the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro will investigate the alleged “crime of danger to life or health.” They will investigate facts, and as per Estadão, the authorities will “investigate everything that fans reported, such as the structure of the place and the availability of water.”
