Insiders reveal the real reason Jimmy Kimmel is returning and the secret monologue plan that could spark mutiny

Jimmy Kimmel could face a mutiny from his crew if he doesn’t speak out against Disney for suspending his show.

Insiders told the Daily Mail staff expect the late-night host to ‘come out swinging’ when he returns to air on Tuesday night.

The 57-year-old’s show was put on hiatus over his comments about conservative leader Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Disney announced on Monday the show would return after days of talks with Kimmel, sparking speculation of how he would respond to the scandal.

A source has now told the Daily Mail the content of Kimmel’s opening monologue is being kept a secret, and it’s unclear if he will address the suspension.

Staff at the show don’t know whether he will apologize, or decide to criticize Disney and ABC’s move.

But the insider has made clear that there could be consequences if Kimmel doesn’t defend himself and fight back against censorship.

The source told the Daily Mail: ‘We won’t know what he’s doing to say to address it, they’re going to keep that secret, but I can tell you he’s not going to roll over and just take it.

‘The last week has made his balls bigger, not smaller. I expect him to come out swinging and I think everyone here does.

‘We are depending on him to stand up for what’s right. If he doesn’t, there will be a mutiny.’

Another source told Daily Mail that Kimmel is coming back for his staff, because he didn’t want them left in limbo.

‘He is coming back for everyone that works for him and out of respect for them, he wanted everyone in his crew not to miss any pay and any more work than they already have missed,’ the insider said.

‘As much as he wanted to leave ABC and expected not to be coming back at all, he is happy that the people he works with will have some time to figure out their next steps, because what this taught Jimmy was that he might not be leaving ABC now, he will once his contract is up unless they offer him a boatload of money.

‘He is mad at them for doing this to him and his team and tomorrow will be must see TV, he is going to give us a glimpse of what he has been dealing with the last few days and we will all know what his plans are for the future.

‘He isn’t going to take this lying down.’

Kimmel claimed on his show last Monday that ‘the MAGA gang’ was attempting to portray the suspect in Kirk’s assassination ‘as anything other than one of them’.

The comments sparked outrage, and a warning from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr that ABC and Disney could be punished.

Within hours, more than a dozen ABC affiliates told the network and Disney it would not be airing Kimmel’s show until the remarks were addressed.

Disney and senior ABC execs then made the call to pull Kimmel’s show ‘indefinitely’.

On Monday, Disney announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return on Tuesday night.

‘Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,’ Disney’s statement said.

‘It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.

‘We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.’

No further details were provided.

Kimmel’s controversial comments occurred on his show last Monday.

‘We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it,’ he said.

‘In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving on Friday. The White House flew the flags at half-staff, which got some criticism, but on a human level, you can see how hard the president is taking this.’

Kimmel then played a clip of Trump responding to a question about how he was coping with Kirk’s death, before poking fun at the president’s mourning process.

The two parties had been engaged in talks since, in hopes of finding a way to get the show back on the air.

Carr, during his conversation with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, framed an apology ‘as a very reasonable, minimal step that can be taken’.

Disney co-chairman Dana Walden and chief executive Bob Iger made the call to suspend the host over his on-air comments.

Suspect Tyler Robinson, meanwhile, has been charged with capital murder.

Prosecutors released a slew of text messages and other evidence that appeared to hint at a motive last week

In a text to his transgender partner shortly after the murder, Robinson allegedly said of Kirk: ‘I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.’

In another, he discussed how his father ‘has been pretty die-hard MAGA’ since Trump had been re-elected.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox has said the suspect’s ideology was very different than his family’, and that his motivation was rooted in radicalization.

The Daily Mail has gone to Disney and Kimmel for comment.
