Michael Jackson‘s father Joe Jackson launched a civil lawsuit against Dr Conrad Murray on the one-year anniversary of the King of Pop’s death yesterday (June 25).

The singer’s doctor, who has been charged with giving him a lethal overdose, is accused of professional negligence in giving Jackson sedatives on the day he died, reports BBC News.

Joe Jackson is seeking more than $75,000 (£50,000) in damages from Dr Murray, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in February.

The suit, which was filed at a federal court in Los Angeles, also alleges that Michael Jackson was not properly supervised at Dr Murray‘s clinics in Houston and Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, UK sales figures released by The Official Charts Company yesterday (June 25) revealed Michael Jackson sold more than four million albums and singles in the year since his death.
