Ben Roethlisberger has responded to QB Mason Rudolph’s comments, suggesting he was not helpful and welcoming enough in his rookie year.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made Rudolph the starter recently. The third-string QB, in one of his press conferences, indicated that Roethlisberger did not advise him or guide him as a veteran QB ought to have done.

He felt Big Ben was mad that the Steelers had picked a QB to replace him and that the veteran was taking that frustration out on him. However, Ben Roethlisberger set the record straight.

When Mason played for me, I was trying to help Mason as much as I could. Then, he just...he didn't want my help anymore, so I backed off. I never had an issue with Mason when he got drafted. I'm going to put it out there now. I had more of an issue with the pick.

The former Steelers QB said via his Footbahlin podcast.

From this, it is clear that it was not all Roethlisberger’s fault. He did not appreciate the fact that the Steelers opted to pick a quarterback in the third round of the 2018 draft, but at the same time, he did not take that frustration out on Mason Rudolph because he knew it was not his fault.

Ben Roethlisberger has no beef with Mason Rudolph

Mason Rudolph stated how he enjoyed and respected the company of Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky on the sidelines. He was in awe of the group and praised them because they all helped one another.

There's been other times when it's been not as cohesive as a group and people aren't as forthcoming.

This particular comment was a jibe at Ben Roethlisberger because he was the starting QB when Rudolph was drafted.

Nevertheless, Big Ben cleared the air and stated he had no issue with Rudolph. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 17-10, thereby keeping their playoff hopes alive.

The best team in the NFL decided to rest all key starters in order to prevent any injuries. If the team has to make the playoffs, either the Buffalo Bills or Jacksonville Jaguars have to lose, or there should be a tie between the Texans and the Colts.
