Winning a Super Bowl ring is the ultimate dream of every football player. It comes as no surprise that players lock up their rings in safe lockers in order to keep them away from even their own families! After all, it would be nothing less than a nightmare to fathom the possibility of having someone else try on their rings and tamper with them. Turns out Jerry Rice had this nightmare turn into a reality.

The former wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers was caught by surprise when he found out that Julian Edelman, the former New England Patriots star had tried on his Super Bowl championship rings when he visited the Rice residence during high school. Edelman revealed this episode via The New Heights Podcast.

Julian Edelman had taken Jerry Rice‘s daughter Jaqui Rice out to prom. It was during this time that he visited the residence of the legendary wide receiver. Taking full advantage of the fact that Rice was not home when he used to visit his house, Edelman revealed he had played with the rare signed Super Bowl footballs and tried on the championship rings of the three-time Lombardi winner.

After seeing Edelman’s clip, Rice hilariously called him a ‘funny dude’. He recalled Edelman coming over to his house and also remembered him taking Rice’s daughter to the prom. But he clarified that he always had his rings locked up and unless his daughter knew about them, there was no chance Edelman could’ve tried them.

Julian, he's a funny dude! I remember him coming over to the house, I remember them going to the prom together and him being around. He was exceptional when he played ball and all of that. But my rings, I have always had my rings locked up. So unless my daughter knew the combination. You know, I'm going to leave it as it is. I'm saying because, you know, I'm just that type of guy...

Jerry Rice was as surprised as the viewers when he heard about Julian Edelman’s revelation about him trying out his rings. They were all kept in a locker with a numerical combination but it would seem that his daughter, Jaqui Rice knew the code and unlocked it for Edelman. Which is how he gained access to them.

He did not seem offended by this and took light to the situation. Little did Rice know this boy would go on to win the same number of Super Bowls as him in the future while becoming the greatest wide receiver in the history of the Patriots franchise!
