It’s been an up-and-down Sunday for Chicago Sky star Angel Reese. Despite losing to the Minnesota Lynx by a final score of 70-62, Reese made WNBA history by recording the most consecutive double-doubles in a single season with ten in a row.

After the game, Reese received more good news as she was announced as the BET Sportswoman of the Year. This award celebrates the most successful woman from the Black community in sports from the year.

The former LSU Tigers star went on to share an emotional response to winning this award on social media.

“Thank you BET for Sportswomen of the Year!” Reese said while adding a crying emoji.

Reese won the award over stars such as Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson, tennis sensations Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff, LSU guard Flau’jae Johnson, USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins, track and field athlete Sha’carri Richardson, and gymnast Simone Biles.

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) looks for an open teammate on Sunday June 16, 2024, during the game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Fever beat the Sky 91-83.

The Sky will travel south for their next game against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday, July 2, at 7:00 PM ET.
