‘Jeopardy!’ Reason Mayim Bialik Was Let Go From Show

Mayim Bialik recently revealed that she would not be returning as the Jeopardy! co-host. She was switching out hosting alongside Ken Jennings. Now, she will no longer be back but was there something that prompted production to make this decision? Read on for more details.

It was a tough choice when Alex Trebek died as to who would take over his position on Jeopardy! There were guest hosts but, in the end, the show decided to go with two hosts rather than one. They chose former contestant and epic winner, Ken Jennings. Alongside him, actress Mayim Bialik was also selected as she is extraordinarily educated with a PhD in neuroscience from UCLA. The two hosts would switch off and Bialik even hosted Celebrity Jeopardy! However, fans were not that keen on Bialik as they felt she did not have what it took to host.

Mayim had a tendency to pause before reacting to the contestant’s answers. Additionally, she seemed disinterested in their lives and backgrounds. Then, the WGA strike happened which made Bialik opt to no longer film. Along with that, the SAG-AFTRA strike occurred and she was officially out. Luckily, Ken Jennings was on board as the show had an arsenal of questions. Plus, they were going to have second-chance games where they could reuse some without overstepping any boundaries. However, it was Ken who would be hosting both regular and Celebrity Jeopardy! Then, Mayim shared she would not be returning at all but there may be a deeper reason.

According to TMZ, the strikes may have precipitated Mayim Bialik’s exit. An insider from Sony revealed that having Bialik gone during the strike made them see they only needed one host. Plus, her not being around only enabled Ken Jennings to hone his skills and make him a better host. Furthermore, production did attempt to accommodate Mayim and all that she was doing. However, she did not like what was going on with their decisions so this was also an issue.

She Could Be Back

Despite her exit, it is rumored that Mayim Bialik may not be out for good. They may have her back for special episodes, mainly those that deal with celebrities. It seems to be her niche so they are seemingly not opposed to that. This did not sit well with her so she made her voice heard. Therefore, they were not aware that she would share her exit when she did. Still, she is welcomed back by Sony, she just has to say yes to Jeopardy!
