Jimmy Kimmel “f–king livid” after ABC cancels ‘Live!’ — Trump celebrates with shocking claim: “This is great news for America” — What does this mean for the future of late-night TV?
Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly “absolutely f–king livid” over ABC’s decision to ax his late-night talk show following backlash to his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s assassination — while President Trump cheered the move as “great news for America.”
The comedian, 57, was left fuming over the network’s Wednesday decision to suspend him and pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” off the air “indefinitely” after he unleashed a hateful tirade against the gunned-down conservative activist during Monday night’s monologue, sources and producers told the Daily Mail.

In a Truth Social post, Trump cheered ABC’s decision to pull Kimmel’s show, calling it “great news for America.”
“Absolutely f–king livid,” one producer told the outlet about how Kimmel took the news, adding that the “pissed” late-night host is meeting with the network.
“This is clearly the government overreaching. There’s no such thing as free speech in America, if the government can lean on companies to stop any content they don’t like.”
Sources told the outlet that the network’s decision is the “last straw” for Kimmel, who is now “actively looking” to break out of his contract and end his relationship with ABC.
“Jimmy is pissed over the decision to suspend him and the show and he isn’t going to take this lightly, as he is actively looking for ways to get out of his contract,” the source said, with another insisting they’ve “never seen Kimmel this angry.”
Kimmel came under fire when he said the “MAGA gang” was trying to score political points off Kirk’s savage public execution.

The decision was announced on Wednesday after Kimmel’s comments Monday on “Live!” about Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter. AP
The right-wing influencer was shot dead with a single bullet to the neck while speaking with thousands during an outdoor event at Utah Valley University in Orem last Wednesday. Tyler Robinson, 22, has since been arrested and charged for the vicious slaying.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said during his monologue.
Nexstar Media Group, the major broadcast company that serves as a primary affiliate for ABC, confirmed that it would “preempt” Kimmel’s program in the wake of his remarks.
Trump appeared to dance on Kimmel’s late-night grave shortly after the news broke.

“Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED,” Trump posted on Truth Social around 8 p.m. ET — which is 2 a.m. in England, where he was having a state visit with King Charles and other UK leaders.
“Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy [Fallon] and Seth [Meyers], two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.”
Kimmel is now the second late-night host and comedian to have his show killed following political controversy.

In July, CBS announced that Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show” would be ending in May 2026 after its next season — another move celebrated by the commander-in-chief.
“They both don’t want Trump to win in any way or fashion at all, and this has lit an extreme fire under Jimmy’s ass to continue to tell it like it is and be real to himself,” another source told the Daily Mail, adding that Colbert is looking to have Kimmel on his liberal-leaning show this week.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr called Wednesday’s move “unprecedented” and told Hannity that it’s a “turning point” in media.
“Now they both are in the same predicament with being against the Trump administration, and they are now looking to do something together to fight for what they believe in.”
Shortly after Kirk — a 31-year-old married father of two and close Trump ally — was killed, Kimmel took to social media to offer condolences to his family and to all victims of gun violence.
But after Monday’s blunder, the FCC chairman says the only reasonable step for ABC, parent company Disney, and the Emmy-nominated host is to issue a public apology — noting that the network’s “unprecedented” rejection of Kimmel by broadcasters is “an important turning point” in the media.
“This action today by NexStar and Sinclair, frankly, it’s unprecedented,” Brendan Carr told Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday.
“I can’t imagine another time when we’ve had local broadcasters tell a national programmer like Disney that your content no longer meets the needs and the values of our community. So this is an important turning point.”
Carr blasted late-night shows for becoming “court clerics” who enforce “very narrow political ideology.”
“There’s more work to go, but I’m very glad to see that American broadcasters are standing up to serve the interests of their community, and we don’t just have this progressive foie gras coming out from New York and Hollywood,” Carr pressed on “Hannity.”
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” has been a staple for ABC since it began airing in 2004.
