CNN host shockingly defends Donald Trump after guest makes wild claim

CNN host Kaitlan Collins invited Jasmine Crockett to discuss the government shutdown, during which the congresswoman claimed that Donald Trump is focused on other matters

Kaitlan Collins shocked viewers when she came to Donald Trump’s defense during the latest segment of CNN.

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, the 33-year-old anchor invited United States Representative Jasmine Crockett to join her on The Source. During the congresswoman’s appearance on the news show, the two were in the middle of discussing the government shutdown when things took a turn.

Collins started off the chat by asking Crockett if she believes Congress will finally come to an agreement to end the shutdown. The lawyer then admitted, “I have no idea,” before going on a tangent about the president’s other affairs.

“The president is in Japan,” she first pointed out, before saying, “The president has time to do everything but what he needs to focus on

“In fact, we heard the press secretary say his main priority is the ballroom — the ballroom that no one asked for. The ballroom that requires him to destroy historic pieces of the White House. And so it doesn’t seem like he’s interested [in the shutdown],” she continued.

After Crockett went on to slam the president for not listening “listening to the pain are suffering through,” Collins interjected to clarify the comment she made about Trump’s priorities was false.

“Yeah, and that context of the comment from Karoline Leavitt, she was asked if the president was working on any other renovations when it came to the White House, and she was saying his focus was the ballroom,” she explained.

Last week, Leavitt made the comment that has sent several politicians and news outlets into a frenzy.

While discussing the renovation of the ballroom and the rose garden patio, a reporter asked “Is the president looking at any other renovations or significant projects here at the White House?”

Leavitt then responded, “Not to my knowledge, no but he is a builder at heart, clearly and so his heart and his mind is always churning about how to improve things here on the White House grounds.

“At this moment in time, of course, the ballroom is the president’s main priority,” she concluded.

Crockett is not the only one to change the context of what the press secretary had said.

Earlier this week, Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz the Trump administration is “choosing to prioritize” the $300 renovation of the White House.

He said, “When the White House Press Secretary said the top priority is the ballroom, we could not disagree more. Quit scapegoating people who are hungry and making up stories that are not true.”

When Fox News hosts went to correct Walz, they weren’t as polite about the clarification as Collins was.

“Tim Walz, way to leave out very important context and just entirely change what she said,” Kayleigh McEnany stated.
