Jeopardy! contestant Drew Goins thanked Céline Dion on an episode of the trivia game show, to then get tested on his knowledge on the Canadian singer and got it wrong

Looks like a Jeopardy! contestant was not a Céline Dion expert after all.

On the Friday, Jan. 24 episode of the ABC trivia game show, Drew Goins, a journalist from Honolulu, Hawaiʻi competed once more against Will Yancey, a lecturer of history from Banquete, Texas and Mehal Shah, a software engineer from Seattle, Washington, for the last game of the final tournament of Champions Wildcard.

Drew took time to thank people for his time journey on the show, one of those being the Canadian singer. He said: “John the producer suggested, long story, that I thank Céline Dion. So, thank you, Céline Dion,” and then bowed to the camera.

Host Ken Jennings asked if Céline had any idea what she did and Drew answered: “Oh, she does. Deep down.”

Later in the episode, the Céline fan was given the opportunity to flex his knowledge of the singer when presented with a $2000 clue from the category “’90s No. 1 Hits.” Ken read: “Sharing its title with an earlier, more upbeat Huey Lewis hit, it was No. 1 for Céline Dion in 1994.”

Drew and the other two contestants did not ring their buzzer. Ken then said: “Oh, she’s going to be mad, Drew… Like Huey Lewis, Céline Dion sang a song called ‘The Power of Love.'” Drew left the podium and pretended to walk off the set.

Viewers at home enjoyed to watch the funny moment and quickly called Drew out. One person on X, formerly known as Twitter, wrote: “Not Drew messing up with Taylor Swift and then Celine Dion.” Another chimed in: “DREW YOU CAN’T THANK CELINE DION AND THEN NOT GET CELINE DION!!!!!” A third person posted: “Congrats! He played remarkably. Drew walking offstage after another wrong answer to Celine Dion was hilarious.”

He might have not passed to the Tournament of Champions, but Drew was recognized with an award. Jeopardy!’s X account honored certain contestant during their time on Champions Wildcard. Drew was honored for his “Breakthrough Performance” with Ken being honored with as the “2025 Hall of Fame Inductee.”
